5 Uncommon Signs of Breast Cancer
Awareness about breast cancer has only improved over the years among women as well as men. All the major signs of breast cancer are now known by most women, and they know when to get themselves checked. Women are aware that lumps in the breast, inverted nipples, and signs like these are not normal and shouldn’t be ignored. These are some common signs. But there are a few uncommon signs of breast cancer.
Here are some of the uncommon signs of breast cancer:
1. Scaly, dimply, or patchiness of the skin
Each breast has its peculiarities. Forexample, one may notice that their left breast fits better in the bra as compared to their right breast. These peculiarities are normal. So, if there are any changes taking place in the breasts, one should stay aware. Any scaliness or patchiness of the skin should not be ignored. It could be a sign of breast cancer.
2. Leakage from the nipples
During pregnancy or after delivering a baby, leakage of fluid from one or both nipples takes place. The fluid is usually breast milk. But if one is not pregnant and yet there is a discharge from the nipples, it could be an early symptom of breast cancer.
3. Swelling of the lymph nodes
A group of cells responsible for filtering and destroying viruses, bacteria, and everything harmful that can lead to any illness is called lymph nodes. When one gets a cold, the lumps they feel on either side of the neck are lymph nodes working to get rid of the virus. Although rare, swollen lymph nodes sometimes can also be a symptom of cancer. If it is breast cancer, swollen lymph nodes can be felt near the collarbone or the armpit.
4. Swelling and tenderness of the breasts
These symptoms could occur due to several reasons and inflammatory breast cancer can be one of those. It is rare though. This is a rare type of breast cancer and does not lead to the formation of a lump. But in place of a lump, there can be rapid changes in the breast taking place. These changes can include an increase in the size, discoloration, warmth on the breasts, pain, tenderness, and dimpling. In the case of inflammatory breast cancer, the lymph ducts of the breasts get clogged. Under normal circumstances, these ducts are responsible for draining out the extra fluid. But when there is a blockage, the fluid starts to build up and leads to the usual symptoms of breast cancer.
5. Tickling sensation
Sometimes, one or both of the breasts can experience a pricking, buzzing, or tickling sensation. Some women can also feel that there is breast milk going down from their breasts, even when they haven’t been breastfeeding. If one has been feeling any abnormal sensations in their breasts and they keep coming back every now and then, they could be a sign of breast cancer.
