A Step-by-Step Beauty Routine for Mature Skin

As the human body ages, the skin also gets, feels, and appears older. This is an undeniable and inevitable fact. That said, it also means that you should take more significant steps to care for aging skin. Of course, fine lines and wrinkles will appear, but that does not mean that you do not attempt to reduce or prolong their appearance. Now, let’s discuss a step-by-step beauty routine to take care of aging skin.

1. Wash your face with a cream cleanser
Irrespective of your skincare concerns or skin type, you have to cleanse your skin every day. However, if you start to experience visible age signs on your face, you must reach out for a nourishing cream cleanser over a foaming cleanser. As the skin ages, it starts losing its natural oils, nutrients, and moisture. This can make the skin feel and appear drier. With a cream cleanser, the skin can replenish some of its moisture and look fresher. A cleanser will also help remove all the dirt and traces of makeup from your face. You must use a cleanser two times a day.

2. Use a toner
Though this step is optional, using a good toner can work great for your skin. It is one of the best products that help in balancing the skin’s pH level. Those with acne-prone skin must reach out for a toner exquisitely formulated for acne, such as those formulated with salicylic acids that can soothe the breakouts. On the other hand, you must go with a moisturizing toner if you have sensitive or dry skin.

3. Invest in anti-aging serums
Unlike the other creams, the serums must be patted and not rubbed. Serums have a high concentration of active ingredients compared to a moisturizer. When shopping for an anti-aging serum, look for the products containing vitamin A derivatives or retinoids – tazarotene, tretinoin, and retinol. Further, your serum must also contain vitamin C that works as an antioxidant and boosts the skin’s collagen. Hence, the serum can absorb the environmental and biological oxidative stress, which can accelerate the aging process.

4. Do not miss the eye creams
Eye creams are an absolute must. Invest in a good eye cream, and dab it onto your eyes with your ring finger. Be gentle while you do so. Its daily usage will help prevent or reduce undereye issues like dark circles, wrinkles, and undereye bags.

5. Moisturize the skin
Lastly, do not skip on your moisturizer regardless of the season or physical location. Mature skin requires higher moisturization to lower the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Hence, you must invest in a solid moisturizer to replenish and hydrate your skin. We recommend gel or whipped formulas in the moisturizer as you are certainly going to layer several products on it. Gel formulas have a fast-absorbing consistency, which will not let your face feel oily or sticky during summers. In addition, you must pick the moisturizers containing ceramides and hyaluronic acid.
