Risk Factors and Early Signs of Nasal Polyps

Noncancerous, teardrop-shaped, and soft growth in the nose or the sinuses are known as nasal polyps. When they grow in size, their appearance resembles more like peeled grapes. When nasal polyps are small, they do not cause any symptoms or require treatment. But the larger ones can cause blockage in the sinuses, leading to several symptoms.

1. Underlying conditions

It is believed that genes play a role in the immune and inflammatory responses can increase the risk of nasal polyps. So, if someone in the family has nasal polyps, then it can increase your chances of developing the condition.

A person can have one polyp or a cluster of several nasal polyps. If these polyps are small and less in number, they do not cause any problem. Nasal polyps cause blockage in the nasal passage. It is because of this blockage that you can feel that your nose is stuffed all the time. Nasal polyps can affect both the nostrils.
